|

The Drivedata DR3 provides a complete video+data solution in a single package. Its available in with single or multiple video camera channels, all of which record nice quality 720 wide frames in NTSC or PAL sizes with DivX video format. It also records GPS data on the same CF card, which makes it a perfect source for TrackVision video.
Set Up TrackVision to use Drivedata DR3
- Start TrackVision
- Click Edit/Preferences
- Select Drivedata DR3+GPS MPH or KPH from the logger models list
- Click the box for 'Use KPH speed units' if you are using KPH speed
- Select Drivedata DR3+GPS from the dashboard list
- Click the Video Preferences button
- Select H.264 from the Encoder list, then click OK
This is a good opportunity to change the folder locations where TrackVision will look for your input video files, your data files, and where it will store your saved video files.
When you're done with this, Click OK. TrackVision is now set up to use your DR3 data files and to display them using the DR3 dashboard.
Convert the logged data ready for TrackVision
Using the GPS data recorded by the DR3 requires the use of the DVR application provided with the product. You need to install the DVR application first, of course!
Here's how to convert your data files using DVR:
Take the CF card from the DR3 and insert it into your PC. The DVR application looks for your data files on the CF card - only!
- Start the DVR application. You will see your raw data files on the CF card. They are the files with .nma extension.
- Click the green and yellow triangle icon to go to the conversion screen
- Click the File Open icon to select the data file you want to convert
- Click the Convert File icon to convert the file for use in TrackVision. MicroDVR will save the converted file with the same filename but with a .csv extension. This is the file you will open in TrackVision
- Repeat this process to convert all of your data files, then close DVR
Using the converted data in TrackVision
Now comes the fun part - creating a TrackVision video that displays your data on your Drivedata DR3 video.
- Start TrackVision
- Open your video and data files in a new TrackVision project, which will look something like this:
- Check the Latch Data box to sync the two files together, then click the play button to check that the video and data are close to being in sync.
- You'll notice that the green Start arrow and red End arrow have been dragged to move the video start and end point. This is an easy way to keep just the video you want to save, or even to isolate individual laps easily.
- Click Show Movie to see how your video will look, and if its OK, click Save Movie to create your TrackVision video.

The current version of TrackVision has the dashboards, the loggers, and the Windows 7 installer. I'll email a download link to you. _________________ Tony Kelly
