Hi all,
I cannot get P Box software to convert .dbn file to .csv file.
I also cannot get P Box software to import any file to the right destination in track vision.
Why does the program not accept a .dbn file? that would be alot easier!!
Can someone take me step by step to get data loger info into program. Video worked fine.
Thanks Mike |

Here's the step by step for exporting a csv from Racelogic Tools, and setting the appropriate TrackVision preferences.
Racelogic DriftBox & PerformanceBox
The data from both DriftBox and PerformanceBox are essentially identical, but for a few channels. Racelogic Tools and VBOX Tools V1.7.4 and later have a simple one-step process to generate export data files direct to TrackVision.
Here's how to export data for TrackVision:
- Start Tools
- Load your runfile.dbn
- Click the Tools button
- Select Export Data then To TrackVision
Save In: select the folder for your TrackVision data files.
- For Vista Installations C:\\Program Data\Apex Visualizations\TrackVision/Projects\Logger Files
- For XP installations C:\\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Apex Visualizations\TrackVision/Projects\Logger Files
Alternatively, you can save the files in any folder you like, and then in TrackVision, click Edit/Preferences and set this folder as the default for data logger files.
- File Name: enter the filename you want to use for the TrackVision version of this run data
- Click OK to save the file
In TrackVision:
- Click Edit/Preferences
- From the logger models list, select Racelogic Tools, MPH or KPH
- Click OK
Now you can open your saved csv files in TrackVision.
Please let us know which point of this process is causing the problem. _________________ Tony Kelly

What camera are you using?
What video format does it create? _________________ Tony Kelly

If its a Vixia HV10 it records HDV to tape.
Best bet is to use H.264 when saving with TrackVision:
- Click Save Movie
- Click Preferences
- Select Format = H.264
- You can choose the frame width you want to save. You can safely reduce frame width to 720 for YouTube uploads, to give you a smaller file.
- Leave Quality = 50 unless you want a much smaller file.
- Click OK
Save the video. The saved video will have an .mp4 extension, which is supported by YouTube, Vimeo, MotionBox etc. _________________ Tony Kelly

I'm sorry to say that this does not work for me.
I did it EXACT as you describe, but when loading the Data Logging Input file, the speed field shows 22884 KPH (whow that's fast). No track map is shown. I can provide screenshots if you want.
I'm using WinXP Pro, Trackvision 2.1.4.114 Trial, Performance Box - Tools 1.8.2 - 12
The first few lines of the export files are :

email your .dbn file to support[at]trackvision.net and I'll take a look.
The PBox support has been working for years, so this is doubtless something simple. _________________ Tony Kelly

The commas rather than decimal points are going to cause problems. _________________ Greg DuPertuis

OK, now lets fix the reason you are getting , and not .
I think PBTools generates a correct csv, with , separators.
IF you open that csv in Excel, then save it [even without making changes] Excel will apply the Windows Regional settings to the csv format. I'm guessing your Windows Regional and Language setting uses , to separate decimal values [2.00 = 2,00], and that's what is causign teh separators to become ,s.
Try this:
- Export from PBTools
- Open the csv file in Notepad
- If you see , separators then you know that its Excel that's causing the problem. DONT save the csv in Excel! _________________ Tony Kelly
